Worker suffers injured leg after backhoe pins him against fence

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – A University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture employee was treated and released from Washington Regional after sustaining an injury to his right leg on Tuesday.

Chris Marshall of Fayetteville, an agricultural technician, was repairing a chain link fence along Garrett Avenue on the grounds of the Agricultural Research and Extension Center, when a backhoe rolled forward, pinning him to the fence with a front tire.

A passerby biking on the Meadow Valley Trail saw Marshall and called 911, said Vaughn Skinner, director of the Arkansas Agricultural Research and Extension Center.

Marshall was discharged late Tuesday afternoon.
