- ExCEL Corporate Challenge set for May 21 at the Vines Center
- Five teams taking the field for the challenge
FERNDALE, Ark. -- The business world is a very competitive place. On May 21, five teams from some of Arkansas’ best known businesses are taking their competitive nature to a whole new level at the ExCEL Corporate Challenge in the wilds of The Vines Center.
ExCEL is a team- and leadership-building program that enables participants to learn by doing. The ExCEL course is hosted at the C.A. Vines Arkansas 4-H Center in Ferndale. Since its inception in 1986, ExCEL has seen more than 75,000 people.
“This is no ordinary day in the woods,” said Luke Nipper, 4-H ExCEL program coordinator for the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture. “This is an opportunity for each of these teams to challenge themselves and each other.”
Fielding teams for this inaugural event are:
- Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield
- Farm Credit of Western Arkansas
- Arkansas Federal Credit Union -- bringing two teams
The teams arrive at the center at 8:30 a.m., with the challenge getting started at 9 a.m. and run through 11:45 a.m. The winner will be announced around lunchtime.
Teams will have to rotate through eight challenge stations and have 18 minutes to complete each challenge. The object is to gain as many points as possible at each station.
“The teams will competing in several events such as canoeing with one partner blindfolded, archery, photo booth, water balloon launch, tower building and the Cube, in which teams have to build a cube from PVC pipes and walk through it without touching the sides,” said Nipper.
