PINE BLUFF, Ark. -- Extension garden guru Janet Carson and Julie Donnelly, an Arkansas tomato grower and advocate, are the keynote speakers for the 27th annual Home & Garden Show & Seminar.

Carson is an extension horticulture specialist for the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture. Donnelley and her husband own Deepwoods Farm in Warren, where they grow squash, cucumbers, okra and heirloom tomatoes. Last year, the farm was awarded a $30,000 value-added producer grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The 2015 show is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 14, at the Pine Bluff Convention Center. The show runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free.

“It’s a day that will be fun and informative,” said Lloyd Wessels, Jefferson County Master Gardener. “What better way to show your love of gardening than visiting the Home & Garden Show on Valentine’s Day?”

The show also features 30-minute sessions on:

    • “Grow Bucket Kit ” – Cheryl Anderson, of Farm Fresh Produce and More.
    • “Foolproof House Plants – Jane Black and Susan Buckner, both local Master Gardeners
    • “Pallet Gardens” – Lynn and Irene Woolley, both local Master Gardeners.

There will also be door prizes, including a chance to win a handmade quilt -- the winner will be drawn at 1 p.m.  Be sure and register for the drawing!

The Pine Bluff Stitching Together Group will have a display of more than 60 quilts and hand-stitched items, and various quilt vendors will have booths nearby with fabric and quilting supplies.

Among the show’s more than 125 exhibits will be the Master Gardeners of Jefferson County, whose members will be available to answer all your gardening questions. Theywill also have information on the spring Master Gardener training class.

Booth space is still available for vendors. Call Lloyd Wessels for booth information and reservation at 870-692-0151 or Cooperative Extension Service at 870-534-1033.
