LITTLE ROCK — “America Saves,” the annual effort by the Cooperative Extension Service in conjunction with the Consumer Federation of America that begins Jan. 1 of each year, culminates this week with America Saves Week, in which interested Arkansans are encouraged to commit to themselves — and one another — to make good financial choices, including saving more money and paying off debt.
Laura Hendrix, Assistant Professor of Family and Consumer Science for the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture, said the program is designed to help Arkansans change their behavior by exposing them to information that may be new to them.
“We know that learning something new about personal finance helps consumers move forward in achieving financial goals,” she said.
The Division of Agriculture offers many online resources to Arkansans interested in participating in the America Saves program. Individuals can begin by visiting www.uaex.edu/money
to take the online pledge, and sign up to receive email or text message reminders to help them stay true to their own saving goals.
