LITTLE ROCK – County 76, the state advisory group of the Arkansas Master Gardeners is seeking applications for a $1,000 scholarship established to honor Janet Carson, author, garden guru and extension horticulture specialist for University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture.
The scholarship was established during the 25th anniversary of the Arkansas Master Gardener program, introduced in 1988.
The scholarship will be awarded for the 2014-15 academic year to an Arkansas resident attending an Arkansas college or university. Preference will be given to a resident who is pursuing a post-secondary degree in a plant science related field which includes, but is not limited to, horticulture, botany, agronomy, forestry, turf management and landscape architecture or design.
The application is available at http://www.uaex.edu/yard-garden/master-gardeners/default.aspx. The completed application should be returned to the County 76 Master Gardener Scholarship Committee; c/o Julie Treat; 2301 S. University Avenue; Little Rock, Arkansas 72204 no later than April 2. It is anticipated that the scholarships will be awarded in early May.
