Cotton Market Outlook and Policy Update

by Bobby Coats - January 17, 2019

Cotton prices have come under pressure due to continuing trade uncertainties and economic concerns. Cotton’s economic fundamentals still favor better prices, however. The outlook for both 2018 and 2019 crop prices was discussed. The seed cotton program and ARC/PLC for all covered commodities is continued in the new farm bill for 2019-2023. Changes in the new farm bill were discussed and compared to the 2014 farm bill.
