Winter “to do” list for blackberry producers

by Sherri Sanders - December 12, 2017

During the dormant stage (January-February) is a good time to:

  • Soil sample.
  • If anthracnose, cane and leaf rust are present (or have been) apply Lime Sulfur, Sulforix, Drexel, Captan WP or Pristine.
  • It’s also a good time to monitor for Rednecked Cane Borer damage.
  • If less than 5% of canes have RNCB galls, cut those galled canes off at the ground and burn.
  • If more than 5% galled canes, apply spray after dark during adult emergence in May.

Happy Holidays

These steps will help your plants be optimally prepared for the upcoming growing season.

Last but not least . . . enjoy this time of year with your friends and family.

The blackberry recipes posted on Facebook and in our newsletter should help you with that!

From our team to your family – wishing you a happy and healthy holiday.
