Miller County Master Gardeners and 4-H are Offering Educational Programs at Gateway Farmers Market

The Master Gardeners and 4-H are now offering educational programs for adults and youth at the Gateway Farmers Market, located at East 9th and Jefferson, Texarkana, AR.

TEXARKANA, Ark. –

The Red Dirt Master Gardeners and 4-H are now offering educational programs for adults and children at the Gateway Farmers Market, located at East 9th and Jefferson Avenue, Texarkana, AR. The Master Gardeners will be taking soil samples each Saturday in August and September. Bring a pint of soil for each sample you would like to have analyzed in a plastic baggie or clean jar to the Master Gardener booth. There will also be educational gardening materials available as well as Master Gardeners to help with any gardening questions you might have. The Children’s Programs are being offered by Miller County 4-H and will help the youth enjoy their time at the market while the adults shop for the freshest local produce, baked goods, herbs, flowers, etc.

 Here is the schedule of events for August and September, 2016:

Saturday, August 6 – “Soil Samples for Your Fall Garden.”

Saturday, August 13 – “Ask Us About Master Gardeners” and “Soil Samples for Your Fall Garden”

Saturday, August 20 – “Kids Corner with the Master Gardeners” and “Soil Samples for Your Fall Garden”

 Saturday, August 27 – “Cool Container Gardening for Kids” and “Soil Samples for Your Fall Garden”

Saturday, September 3 – “Fall Preparations for Gardens, Flower Beds, and Yards” “Soil Samples for Your Fall Garden”

Saturday, September 10 – No Program—Four States Fair Parade

Saturday, September 17 – “Herbs Kitchen for Kids” and “Soil Samples for Your Fall Garden”

Saturday, September 24 – “Fall Decorating with the Master Gardeners” and “Soil Samples for Your Fall Garden.”
