Desha County, Arkansas
Cooperative Extension Service
Check out our 'What We Do' Video to learn about how Extension helps in Desha County!
We are part of the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service’s statewide network and the University of Arkansas System’s Division of Agriculture. Our mission is to provide research-based information through non-formal education to help all Arkansans improve their economic well-being and the quality of their lives. Whether it is agriculture, 4-H, health and living, or community development, the Desha County Extension Office is at your service!
In an attempt to make our Web-Site more in line with what the residents of Desha County are wanting, please contact Hope Bragg with suggestions of information that you need to be able to access easier.
AgricultureThe crops are hopefully all in, and you have had a good year. As the winter creeps in, we are left to plan for next year, which often means opportunities to train and learn new practices. Pesticide Applicator Classes will be offered soon, and we are looking forward to seeing what next year brings. Please contact us with your soil, irrigation, or crop questions!
For more information, contact your county extension office at (870)222-3972.

Extension Homemakers Clubs are part of what makes living in Desha County fun. Currently we have two very active clubs in the county, but we are looking to expand to more! Extension Homemaker Clubs are not limited to women, stay at home moms, or retirees, but it is open anybody that wants to meet with interesting community members, conduct service projects to better Desha County, or simply learn something new. If you are interested in joining the EHC, or would like to start your own EHC, please contact Heather Reed, FCS Agent at your County Extension Office.
Check out the EHC homepage for more information.

4-HDid you see Desha County on AGRI-Arkansas? Recently the youth of 4-H participated in a field trip to CAVU industries where they toured a recycling facility on a massive scale. The 4-H youth got to see a 757 enging up close, toured a cockpit, and learned what it takes to keep a plane in the air (apparently it is $$$$). Check out AGRI Arkansas on AETN Sundays at 1 PM.
