Arkansas Procurement Technical Assistance Center Success Story: RazorClean, Inc.

by Kim Magee - November 25, 2019

A fourth-generation cleaning company that got its start in 1897 found itself going through a rebirth of sorts when it was taken over by the newest generation in 2011.

Madre Hill, a former Razorback football running back and coach, took over what was then known as Bumblebee when his father had a stroke. It was at that time that the business saw its name changed to RazorClean, Inc. to reflect Hill’s past connections to the Razorbacks.

Hill intends to keep RazorClean going for an eventual fifth-generation owner, keeping the business in the family by passing it down one day to his children.

In the meantime, Hill’s goal is for RazorClean to be a one-stop shop for management, supplies and contracting. Among the services currently offered are commercial building maintenance, housekeeping, mobile detail, termite & pest control, lawn care, towing, painting, handyman, security, pool cleaning, staffing, moving and transport.

RazorClean, under Hill’s leadership, is now a national company and has locations in 14 of 50 states, with the central regional hub located in North Little Rock.

Hill learned of the services offered by Arkansas PTAC through the Small Business Administration SBA and became a client in June of 2019. RazorClean has received several state contracts and served as subcontractor for large federal contracts. They are now ready to start bidding on federal contracts as the prime.

Previous PTAC articles have mentioned that subcontracting is a great way to get started with your contracting journey. RazorClean serves as an example of how subcontracting can be beneficial.

“Arkansas PTAC Counselor Liz Russell has held our hand throughout every step of the process,” Hill said. “PTAC is a gem to those unknowledgeable on the steps to take. RazorClean would not have been able to move forward without their assistance.”
