Doing Business with the State of Arkansas

Are you interested in receiving a contract with the State of Arkansas? Consider attending the monthly vendor class at the State of Arkansas’ Department of Finance and Administration Procurement office.

The first Wednesday of every month they teach a class on “Doing Business with the State of Arkansas” from 9am – 12pm in Little Rock. You can sign up for the free Vendor Class . Participants are provided with information on state procurement regulations as well as procedures and general information for bid submissions. 

The monthly course covers:

  • Arkansas State Procurement law
  • Ethics
  • Registration steps a vendor must take with the State of Arkansas
  • Bidding on state contracts
  • Caution to vendors
  • Bid protests
  • Office of State Procurement website overview
  • Minority owned business procurement opportunities

In addition to classes, you can find bid information online. Bids of $50,000 or more are posted on the webpage of the State of Arkansas Office of Procurement at www.arkansas.gov/dfa/procurement/bids/index.php .

Some examples of current bid opportunities over $50,000 include:

  • Walk in Freezer for the Department of Corrections and
  • Kindergarten – Second Grade Assessment for the Department of Education

Various state agency websites include their current bid opportunities. Examples of current solicitations with the State of Arkansas include:

  • Replacement of a building roof for the Arkansas School for the Deaf in Little Rock, advertised at the Division of Building Authority.
  • Renovation of campground Bull Shoals White River State Park for the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism, advertised at the Division of Building Authority.
  • Hand-held and walk-through metal detectors for the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville Athletic Department, advertised at the University of Arkansas’ HOGBID Solicitation Page.
  • A general contract for all labor, material and equipment for Garvan Woodland Gardens tree house, located at Hot Springs National Park, advertised by the U of A Facilities Management Planning Group.
