Baxter County Voters To Decide Sales Tax in September

by Kristin Higgins - August 15, 2017

Voters in Baxter County have an election Sept. 12, 2017. They will be voting on two county-wide sales tax measures. The Public Policy Center and the Baxter County office of the Cooperative Extension Service created a fact sheet to answer basic questions about the issues.

Note: Mountain Home residents will also be voting on a sales tax proposal Sept. 12. Extension's fact sheet reviews only the county-wide ballot issues.

What's on the ballot?

  • 1 Percent County-Wide Sales and Use Tax (temporary)
  • 0.25 Percent County-Wide Sales and Use Tax (permanent)

Why are these issues on the ballot?

A sales tax must be approved by voters. At a meeting on July 11, 2017, the Baxter County Quorum Court voted to place these measures before the voters.

With multiple ballot issues to decide, your five minutes in the voting booth pass quickly. Go prepared by reading the Baxter County Jail Sales Tax Fact Sheet. You can pick up a copy of the fact sheet at the Baxter County Extension Office or download a digital copy

Our publication contains information to help you make your decision, including:
