Sam Boyster currently serves as Chief Operating Officer for the Cooperative Extension Service.
He grew up in eastern Arkansas, later earning the B.Sc. in Zoology and a M.Sc. in Operations Research from the University of Arkansas. Mr. Boyster has worked in the research and development of digital flight control software for military aircraft, managed the development of consumer electronics products for a multi-national corporation, and managed directory services for FedEx Services Information Technology.
He began with the University of Arkansas, Division of Agriculture Cooperative Extension Service in January 2010 as Director of Information Technology. In 2017 his role changed to Chief Operating Officer. Since joining the Cooperative Extension Service in 2010, he has been recognized with the 2016 John W. White Outstanding Team award, Extension Excellence Innovation Award, a member of the Extension Excellence Unit Team Award for Information Technology, and most recently as a member of the 2019 NACDEP Educational Technology: Team award for Working with Virtual Teams. Additionally, Mr. Boyster has served as the Chairman and Vice Chairman for the Southern Region Program Leadership Network Information Technology Committee.
He is married to Dana Darter Boyster, and they have a son living in Chicago.
