Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP)
Success Stories

The things I learned from being an Expanded Food and Nutrition Program homemaker started in 1996.

Two professional and caring ladies walked into my family's life and taught me a better way of nourishing my kids and me. I learned the proper way to measure food items, shopping with a grocery list, reading labels and planning my meals.

I thought I knew all the basics of becoming a young cook, but I was wrong. When my program assistant, Diane Smith and her volunteer leader, Carol Hollis finished working with me. I successfully graduated from the EFNEP program. That was a big personal achievement for me, plus I enjoyed everything from A to Z that I received training on. I never thought that five years later I would be walking in their shoes as an EFNEP paraprofessional. I love every bit of it and I'm here to stay.

The EFNEP program has made me more aware of bacteria, cleanliness, and proper food handling. This is a success to me as I continue learning.

EFNEP has been very informative to Fairview Head start. Fairview has learned about germs and how they are spread by hand contact. Fairview learned that hand washing is very important. EFNEP has spoken to Fairview Staff& Parents about Healthy eating habits. Parents learned how one small fry is filled with fat. Fairview is very happy with all the good information we have learned form EFNEP.

Success Story

Me and my family benefited from the EFNEP program this past year. My Granddaughter was overweight and did not pay any attention to her diet until we started this program. Now she has her weight at her level and she knows what to eat and the right way to prepare her food.

We are so pleased and I hope more people will try this program

One of our parents is diabetic and she was so thrilled with the recipes and helpful notes she told me event though her doctor follows her closely. The compassion of Janie as she asked question about the sugar we intake daily. Ms. Brazle told me she was so glad to get the recipes and is really enjoying making different dishes for herself and her family.
