Urban Fishing Symposium Registration

The 137th Annual Meeting is fast approaching. As many of you already know, the 2007 Urban Fishing Symposium is one of 61 symposia being held during the meeting. If you are planning to attend any of the Urban Fishing Symposium sessions or the social event, the symposium organizers ask that you please register for the Urban Fishing Symposium. There is no cost to register for the Urban Fishing Symposium, but it is imperative that you register so that we can properly plan for the symposium. If you are in the process of registering for the annual meeting, registering for the Urban Fishing Symposium easily can be accomplished on the current printable and online registration forms. If you have already registered for the annual meeting and did not notice the sign up or have changed your mind and do want to attend, you can register by simply emailing your name to tlang@uaex.edu. This will ensure that you receive the correct registration packet when you check-in to the meeting. Thank you for your time.

For additional information on Trout Day see the Urban Fishing Symposium website http://www.uaex.edu/uapbstudent/UrbanFishing/2007.htm.

Oral Presenter Logistical Information

Presentation Format

Microsoft Powerpoint on the PC platform is required. MacIntosh users should convert and test their presentations on a PC before the meeting.

Manuscript and Management Brief Deadline Announcement

The editors of the "Proceedings of the 2007 Urban Fishing Symposium" have decided to extend the deadline for manuscript and management briefs from September 1, 2007 to September 14, 2007. The editors believe that this will allow for the authors to incorporate any suggestions that they may receive after delivering their presentation at the symposium. Ultimately, the editors believe that this will make the manuscripts and ultimately the proceedings an even better publication.

Call for Marketing and Promotional Items to be Displayed at the Social

As a part of the learning experience of the urban fishing symposium we invite you to bring some of your program's marketing and promotional items to display and giveaway. There will be a table set up at the social for these items. The purpose of this table is to generate ideas for promotional items and give participants tangible items to take home for their program to implement. Examples of items currently used by programs include temporary fish tattoos, hand towels with program logos on them, DVD's about your program, and t-shirts shrink wrapped into the shape of a channel catfish. The organizers believe that this has the potential to directly influence the efficiency of program marketing campaigns. If you would like to participate, please contact Rick Walsh Rick.walsh@dnr.state.mn.us or Mark Nemeth mark.nemeth@dnr.state.mn.us to ensure we have enough space available to include your items.

7/23/07 "AFS has issued poster guidelines for the 2007 Annual Meeting. They can be viewed by clicking here."

6/29/07 Important AFS 2007 Meeting Lodging Update from David Manning (Meeting General Chair) - " Please note that the Downtown San Francisco Marriott is completely sold-out on the night of Thursday, September 6 and has very limited availability on other conference dates. The 2007 Planning Committee anticipated high attendance in San Francisco and has room blocks at the same $140 AFS conference rate at the Parc 55 and Handlery Union Square Hotels. Pleasevisit the Annual Meeting Website and scroll to the bottom of the lodging page for reservation links to these properties. Both beautifully appointed hotels are a very short walk from the Marriott. As always, please do not delay making your reservations. We suspect the Parc 55 and Handlery will also fill to capacity."

6/15/07 "Presenters that have been awarded travel grants to assist them in attending the AFS Annual Meeting and Urban Fishing Symposium in San Fransisco, CA, can now download a reimbursement form at this site to obtain their travel grant funds."

6/5/07 "All speakers are required to bring their presentation on a flash-drive and presentations should be developed using Microsoft Powerpoint."

5/25/07 "To help us better organize and plan the symposium and social please make sure that you check the box on your annual meeting registration form that indicates you will be attending the Urban Fishing Symposium. There is no additional cost to your registration for this but it is imperative to our planning efforts that you do so."

5/25/07 "If you want to stay at the meeting hotel and not one of the overflow hotels be sure to book your rooms right away. The Marriot is filling up fast. To book your rooms go to the Annual Meeting page http://www.fisheries.org/sf/ and click on the Plan Your Trip tab."
