County Impact Statements - St. Francis County
Family and Consumer Sciences Programs Strengthen Family and Community Environments

The St. Francis County Family and Consumer Sciences Program offers individual consultation, as well as several programs designed to help area residents:

1) Strengthen their families and raise successful children

2) Effectively manage resources to maintain economic security

3) Reduce their risk of chronic disease by adopting healthy lifestyle practices

4) Build leadership capacity of individuals, groups and organizations

The Extension Homemakers Club (EHC) Program is open to all St. Francis County Homemakers. An Extension Homemakers Club is a structured organization with elected officers, a regular meeting time, and a commitment to support the mission of the county and state organization. The mission of EHC is to empower individuals and families to improve their quality of living through continuing education, leadership development and community service.

The Expanded Foods and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) is offered to limited resource families with children to help them acquire knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behavior changes necessary to maintain nutritionally sound diets and enhance personal development.

The Best Care Program is designed to bring child care providers classes that keep them up to date on subject matter and methods in developing healthy children. It fulfills the state requirement of 10 hours of continuing education.

Money 2000 and Beyond encourages increased savings or debt reduction by at least $2000 in two years through personal consultation, self-study and newsletters.
