Equine Health and Nutrition Program Helps to Improve Horse Health Care

With the rising cost of feed, hay, fertilize, and vet care, many horse producers are looking for efficient methods to manage their farm and horses.

The goal of this program was to teach producers how to manage their farm and horses properly to run a more efficient operation. Also, to learn the differences between healthy and unhealthy body condition scores.

Because of this program, producers have monitored and adjusted their feeding program to effectively aid in the overall nutrition of their horses. This has helped producers to become more profitable and market their animals more efficiently. The program also outlined a health plan that included a vaccination and worming schedule that producers can use that is basic and effective in disease/infestation prevention.
