Photography Workshops at Boys and Girls Club
Many children in St. Francis County do not have access to
technological equipment or the skills necessary to operate the
devices.
These workshops at the Boys and Girls Club were designed to give
children in St. Francis County hands on learning experience with
digital technology and teach them how to take a high quality
photograph. These children were targeted because they did not have
any experience using a digital camera and did not have access to
one. There were 7 photography workshops held during the summer, in
which the children were taught the parts of the camera and how to
frame their shots to ensure that they get a quality photograph.
Because of these workshops the Boys and Girls director bought a
digital camera for the club and will continue a photography summer
program for the children of St. Francis County. The children also
compiled their photos for a Boys and Girls Club photography
competition.

Impacts
- 30 Boys and Girls Club members participated in the photography workshops.
- 7 weekly workshops were held at the Boys and Girls Club during their summer program.
- The children were given certificates and awards for implementing skills learned in during the program.
- Several children said “I can’t wait until next year; I’m going take the best picture and beat everyone”.
