County Impact Statements - Sebastian County
Want to learn how to grow Shiitake mushrooms? Or how to safely lose twenty
pounds? Or how to budget and plan family meals? Or how to properly inject a
calf? Answers to these questions and thousands of others can all be found
through the Sebastian County Extension Program.
Some of your neighbors had the following to say about their experience with
Extension programs:
"This course (Reshape Yourself) has been helpful to me in identifying
weakness in my will power to control my eating. It has been "eye opening" to
me on how much fat was in my diet - the food guide pyramid showed me my
misunderstanding of food groups and what is necessary( portion control) to
maintain body energy." - Buddy - Reshape Yourself graduate.
"My husband and I had purchased some property that we were planning to
build on and wanted to know what we could plant that would conserve the soil
and survive in Arkansas. One call to the Extension office and I had my
answers. Now I call them whenever I have a landscape question." - Lana -
Fort Smith resident.
"I was getting back into the cattle business on some new land and needed
some ideas on ration balancing and basic nutrition. I called the Extension
office and got the information and while talking to them found out about a
grazing school that I later attended." Randall - Lavaca resident.
The Sebastian County Extension office is advised by the Sebastian County
Extension Council. Members of the Council live in every part of Sebastian County
and bring with them a unique perspective on how the Extension office can meet
the needs of the people of Sebastian County.
There is a wealth of non-biased research based information available to you
through the Cooperative Extension Service. We hope you will browse through the
enclosed impact sheets and learn about our most recent programming efforts.
We invite you to check your local paper for program announcements, call us
for "one on one" education, visit our web site, or request to be included on our
free mailing lists. The Sebastian County Extension office can help you master
the "Information Age."
