County Impact Statements - Searcy County
"A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step".
Stephanie Feese, a Searcy County 4-H member, states that her 4-H journey is
an analogy to the Chinese Proverb, "A journey of a thousand miles must begin
with a single step".
Stephanie Feese joined 4-H eight years ago at the age of ten. Through the
years she has developed into a very successful and accomplished young lady. If
you ask her to what she attributes her success to, she will be quick to say,
"4-H". She has learned the importance of developing new friendships. Stephanie
has grown from a shy 4-H’er into a leader in county, district, and state 4-H
activities.
Stephanie’s main project is Health, She has organized the "Health to Better
Living" 4-H Club with 10 members enrolled. Before the O-Ramas, Stephanie works
hard with 4-H’ers in her club to prepare the members for competition. She plans
meetings where all members practice for competition. The members gain confidence
by practicing time and time again. Stephanie commented, "I get more nervous when
those 4-H’ers, whom I have helped, give their speeches than I do when I give my
own speech." At school, Stephanie was asked to give an impromptu speech
describing her hero. She said Mr. C. A. Vines is her hero, and she explained
everything that Mr. Vines did for the 4-H program and for her personally.
Stephanie has all of the characteristics of a true leader. She is always the
first to congratulate others on their achievements, and she knows the importance
of teaching younger 4-H’ers the leadership skills she has learned herself.
Stephanie has served as a state 4-H officer, a Teen Star, an Ambassador,
Governor’s Award finalist and a Hall of Fame nominee.

Impacts
- 142 youth are enrolled in a 4-H leadership project.
- Searcy County has 4 senior 4-H members who have been named AR 4-H Teen
Stars and AR 4-H Ambassadors.
- 597 youth are members of the Searcy County 4-H program and are enrolled
in one or more 4-H projects.
- 34 4-H members completed a 4-H project record book earning a county 4-H
gold medal award.
- Nine 4-H members earned district record book first place awards in the
beginner and intermediate age levels.
- Two 4-H members earned scholarships based on 4-H records that totaled
$1,250. In the previous year, six members earned $7,250 for college
scholarships.
- Ten county 4-H members earned first place awards at the District and
State 4-H O-Rama activities.
