County Impact Statements - Saline County
4-H Program Developing Leadership, Citizenship and Life Skills

The Saline County 4-H program has offered training to 4-H youth in the areas of canning, nutrition, sewing and safety.

  • Saline County 4-H youth have provided community service in the areas of CJOHN, Salvation Army, Rice Depot, Civitan Center, Red Cross, Head Start, Heifer Project, Senior Adult Center, Arches, and Rose Care Nursing Home. Youth participated in the local Relay for Life, worked with the Special Olympics, and assisted with the Special Needs 4-H Club in the Bryant schools.

  • Each summer youth are given the opportunity to attend State camps, District and State O-Rama’s, State Shooting Sports events and Day camps offered by the County Extension Office.

  • During the county fair each year, county youth display their livestock and poultry projects. Extension personnel have worked with the youth during the year offering them clinics and workshops to prepare for the County, District and State Fairs.

  • The ultimate goal of Saline County 4-H is to develop leadership, citizenship and life skills of its members. Challenges are provided for young people 9 to 19 in nearly 80 project areas through record books and other competitive activities at the community, county, state and national levels.

  • The training available to 4-H members by leaders and agents help prepare them for productive adult lives.
