DISTRIBUTION:
They are found in cold ocean water HABITS: Sea urchins feed on kelp. SPAWNING: GROWTH: USES: Sea urchins are collected for their highly desireable roe, mostly to supply the French and Japanese markets. CULTURE: All stages of sea urchin culture have been developed at either the experimental or pilot scale level. It is not likely that the American public will start eating urchins soon, therefore, only species that are eaten in countries abroad are suitable for culture. REFERENCES:
