HABITS:

Guppies are typically spawned in aquariums for commercial trade.

SPAWNING:

Spawning occurs at water temperature of 75 to 85 degrees.

GROWTH:

Growth is temperature dependent. The warmer you keep the aquarium the faster they grow and die. Guppies have a short life span.

USES:

Guppies are strictly ornamental fish.

CULTURE:

The serious breeder does nothing hit or miss. He wants a large number of babies to be born near a given time. He wants them to grow up together so he can choose the best males and market a fine uniform crop of the balance. Fish stores do not want a mixed up lot and they do appreciate fifty uniform males with fifty females to sell by the pair. The fish could sell for up to $10 per pair.
