Polk County Master Gardeners
How to Become a Master Gardener
All Master Gardeners started by enrolling in a 40-hour class conducted by the
Polk County Cooperative Extension Office. These are five 8-hour sessions
covering a wide variety of topics, including:
- Basic Horticulture
- Fruits
- Ornamental Plants
- Vegetables
- Lawns
- Pests and Diseases
The Master Gardener program is sponsored by the University of Arkansas,
Division of Agriculture, Cooperative Extension Office. Most classes are
conducted by staff members of the University of Arkansas or by particularly
knowledgeable current Master Gardeners.
If you're interested in joining the next class, give the County Extension
office a call at 479-394-6018. They can tell you when and where and all the
other details. Or you can inquire by email to our chapter contact, Barbara
Tobias, at: sbtobias@earthlink.net
