Polk County Master Gardeners
Gardening Calendar

The calendar shows activities in the garden by season in Polk County. The closer to the bottom of the box a vegetable or activity is listed, the closer to the end of the month it should be planted or performed. For tomato, broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower for fall crops, sow seed about four weeks earlier than the suggested transplanting date.

The mean date of the last spring freeze in Polk County is April 10; the mean date of the first fall freeze is October 24.

For additional gardening information, see your county Extension agent and visit the Cooperative Extension Service, University of Arkansas, web site at www.uaex.edu.
