Newton County
Agriculture

Agriculture is one of the largest industries in Newton County. According to the 1997 Census of Agriculture about 21% of Newton County is in farms. The average size farm is 209 acres, with the remaining acreage being taken up by federally owned land, unimproved woodlots, and roads. The University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service has a wealth of information on all aspects of agriculture in Arkansas, as well as the many services available to our residents. Feel free to contact the Newton County Cooperative Extension Service for information. Our phone number is 870-446-2240, or you can e-mail us at jboles@uaex.edu.
