Extension Communications wins best continuing coverage
LITTLE ROCK
- The Communications Department of the University of Arkansas
Division of Agriculture’s Cooperative Extension Service was recognized for best
continuing coverage for news stories about the rain-soaked 2009 harvest, by
Arkansas Press Women.
The Communications Department also earned first place for Arkansas Land & Life
magazine, a joint effort with the University of Arkansas Agricultural Experiment
Station and a second place for agricultural writing.
The contest was judged by National Federation of Press Women members.
The winners were announced June 5, 2010 at a ceremony at the University of Arkansas
Cooperative Extension Service in Little Rock.
First-place award winners were sent to the National Federation of Press Women
competition. Last year, Arkansas Press Women won 29 awards at the national
conference.
Arkansas Press Women is a nonprofit association of professional communicators in
journalism, public information, business, education and government. The
61-year-old association is open to men and women from across the state.
The Cooperative Extension Service is part of the University of Arkansas Division
of Agriculture and offers its programs to all eligible persons regardless of
