[Drawing of 4-H Clover - October 4-H Month] October is 4-H month in Arkansas
and will be marked by participation in a national experiment in biofuels, giant
pumpkins, a robot-building competition and a gubernatorial proclamation.
- October 4th -10th is National 4-H Week.
- On October 6th - Perry County 4-H'ers will make and serve
cupcakes and cookies for a 4-H Month Proclamation reception on
the county courthouse lawn.
- Also on October 6th - Hot Spring County hosts its 4-H
achievement award banquet at Malvern High School
- October 7th - The 2009 National Science Experiment, which
this year focuses on biofuels. "Biofuels Blast," as the
experiment is called, will explore the production of the biofuel
ethanol.
- Perry County is making the most of National 4H Week. On the
7th - Perry County 4-H'ers are collecting gently used books and
magazines for 9-18 year olds at Arkansas Children's hospital.
- October 8th - 4-H members from Perry County will serve up
hot dogs and pastries at Perryville City Park for Volunteer
Appreciation Day.
- And on October 9th - they are collecting used inkjet
cartridges and cell phones for recycling.
- October 15th - Bluff Springs 4-H in Stone County hosts 4-H
Night at Mountain View High School from 5 -7 p.m. This is a
chance for students to learn about 4-H from 4-H members.
- October 17th is 4-H Day at the Arkansas State Fair. This is
a big day for all 4H-ers. It includes the giant pumpkin and
watermelon weigh-ins, 4-H poultry cooking contest, entomology
exhibits, 4-H iRobot contest as well as 4-H STEM hands-on
activities.
- In Logan County on October 23rd, 4-H members hosts a 4-H
Rally from 6-9 p.m. at the Paris Fair building.
