Miller County
Family and Consumer Science

Families are important to the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service. There are many educational opportunities dedicated to strengthening, extending resources and improving diet, nutrition and health of Miller County families. Please feel free to contact us and learn more about the programs and research based educational resources we have to offer.

While many still think of us as "home demonstration agents" or "home economists," we have changed with the times. Yes, we still give you solutions to your food preservation questions, and we can even still test your pressure canner to assure that it is functioning properly, but we do so much more these days! From questions on money management to parenting-from teaching Best Care Child Care Provider Training to improving your diet, nutrition and health-Miller County Family and Consumer Science has the answers!

Through research based information we can assist you in these areas.

We are still deeply involved with some very valuable volunteers called, "Extension Homemakers." This isn't the Home Demonstration Clubs of the old days, no more stuffing mattresses, or picnics under the shade tree. These volunteers are busy in their communities-visiting with shut-in's; making lap robes and bibs for local nursing homes; building and maintaining a historical museum; coordinating community festivals and much more!!! These members are busy!!! While they are serving their community, they are also helping themselves and their families by learning about ways to improve their life and then sharing that information with others.
