Measuring water quality variables on the Arkansas River.

2003- present. Arkansas River black bass fishery assessment. Assessment of black bass populations in all lower Arkansas River pools; relations between black bass and off-channel habitats; assessment of catch, effort, and harvest patterns of largemouth bass fishery; assessment of tournament-associated impacts on fisheries.

2006-2007. Arkansas River Mitigation Study. Characterization of dike field characteristics prior to proposed notching with respect to fish communities and aquatic habitats in the lower Arkansas River.

2001-2003. Lake Texoma (Oklahoma-Texas) assimilative capacity study. Assess spatial and temporal patterns in littoral- and riparian-zone biotic assemblages of Lake Texoma relative to anthropogenic stresses; establishment of reference conditions in Lake Texoma for environmental impact assessment; use of Lake Texoma as a model reservoir ecosystem in relation to a wide variety of anthropogenic stresses including agriculture, industrial discharges, oil production, marina operations, and municipal runoff.

Snorkeling2001-2002. Assessing the potential of fish predation to impact zebra mussel Dreissena polymorpha populations across a latitudinal gradient using a bioenergetic-based modelling approach.

1996-2001. Lower Mississippi River fisheries and floodplain investigations. Assessed spatial and temporal variation in riverine fish assemblages in response to different river trainment strategies; evaluation of catfish bioenergetics in different riverine habitats and in relation to seasonal flooding regimes (dissertation topic).
