Arkansas MarketMaker
MarketMaker Promotional Intro
Audio/Video Script: Hello, my name is Ron Rainey, Economist with the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture. I want to visit with you today about an exciting new resource called MarketMaker which will be available to Arkansas agricultural product producers in the near future. The University recently partnered with the University of Illinois and its emerging network of partnering states to make this resource available to our growers and to our consumers. What is MarketMaker…, you may ask? Well, MarketMaker is a national partnership of land grant institutions and State Departments of Agriculture. This partnership is dedicated to the development of a comprehensive interactive data base of food industry marketing and business data. It is currently one of the most extensive collections of searchable food industry related data in the country. One of the most important features of this resource is that it is free to use and all the information can be mapped and queried by the user. Today the MarketMaker (MM) is a National Portal with 14 states actively operating “host” sites and several other states engaged in becoming a host site. MM is an interactive web resource aimed at promoting the products and businesses of agricultural producers. It is designed to connect food producers, distributors, buyers, and sellers to their specific consumer markets. In June 2009, Arkansas agreed to become a host site. The Arkansas MarketMaker site is currently “under construction” and will be launched by early fall. Although the Arkansas site is not currently “live”, the site is accepting registrations through the registration links. To register your farm operation or business, visit the following link and learn more or more importantly become a part this exciting database. Each state’s site allows users to query, map and locate producers or product specific data. Again, this is Ron Rainey of the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to become a member of this exciting and growing database. If you have questions, feel free to contact your local county office. |
