Helping Hands in the Community from Lincoln County 4-H Youth
"These kids have really worked hard this year and this community is a better
place because of them!," Star City Mayor Gene Yarbrough stated when he presented
Community Service Awards to members of the Star City Pokemons 4-H Club.
Mayor Yarbrough wanted to recognize these young people for their outstanding
service to their community during the year. "Everywhere I looked this year,
they were there! Sprucing up their Adopt-A-Spot city beautification project;
picking up bags and bags of roadside trash during the county Clean-Up/Pick-Up
Day; adopting needy families at Thanksgiving and Christmas; adopting
grandparents who are shut-ins at our nursing homes; serving as hospitality
volunteers at the County Fair and Chamber of Commerce’s Chick-A-Dilly Daze and
these are on Saturdays!"
4-H - one of three educational programs of the Cooperative Extension Service,
University of Arkansas - is an informal, practical, learn-by-doing educational
program for boys and girls between the ages of 5-19 from all racial, cultural,
economic and social backgrounds.
To make the best better is the 4-H motto. According to Mayor Yarbrough,
"These young people are great! They are learning by doing!"

The county Clean-Up/Pick-Up Day was only one of many community
service projects of the Pokemons 4-H Club.
