Howard County
Family and Consumer Sciences
Families are important to the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension
Service. There are many educational opportunities dedicated to strengthening
families, extending resources and improving diet, nutrition and health of Howard
County families. Please feel free to contact our office and learn more about the
programs and research based educational resources we have to offer.
Check out our classes for childcare providers, The Best Care or participate
in a walking program designed to improve health. If you are a parent, you will
want to read the latest copy of “Pocket Pals”. Our programs are constantly
changing in Howard County in order to better meet the needs of the people.
Contact our office to find out what our next scheduled event will be.
Besides focusing on the areas listed above, Howard County has one of the most
active volunteer groups in the state, Extension Homemakers. We currently have
nine Extension Homemaker Clubs with a membership of approximately 125. Most of
our clubs are located mainly in the southern half of the county. Extension
Homemakers in Howard County focus on building leadership skills, learning new
ways to improve their lives and giving back to their community. Three clubs
currently conduct the blood drives for the entire county. Plus they help to
maintain an educational center designed to support the entire county. If you
would like to learn more about EHC contact our office. We are constantly looking
for ways to help communities improve through Extension Homemaker Clubs.
