Hot Spring County Fifth Annual Trail Ride

Trail Ride Assist To Provide Needed Funds For 4-H Youth Center Renovation

Ellen and David Hedges and members of the Husky Trail Riding Club sponsored their Fifth Annual Ride to benefit the 4-H Youth Center roof replacement program.

The Hedges’ along with the Husky Trail Riding Club coordinate two trail rides each year. This year marks their fifth year and their ninth trail ride. The rides are open to all people if they ride or not. The trail ride usually lasts two days beginning with breakfast on Saturday morning and ending with dinner on Sunday evening. Normally riders and wagons begin to gather on the Friday before the ride, with a lot of people camping out for the ride the next day. The Hedges have three large fields they provide for over night camping and they are usually full both nights. There is no fee to participate in the trail ride but donations are accepted. Food for the ride is usually bought by the Hedges, donated or both. There are usually over a hundred riders and seven to twelve wagons each day. This year the weather was rainy but warm and we raised nearly One Thousand Five Hundred Dollars toward the 4-H Center roofing project. Items are also collected for a fun auction, a local band provides music and everyone has a great time, listening to music and eating good home cooked food.
