According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, foodborne illness , sometimes called food poisoning , is a common, costly - yet preventable - public health problem. Each year, about 1 in 6 Americans gets sick, due to a foodborne illness. Everyone is at risk for food poisoning but you can reduce your risk if you know what to do.
