Contributing Retirees

Extension retirees continue to support Extension, giving both money and time. You can see many retirees through the state volunteering for many causes, with a lot of them chairing the event or taking a leadership role.

The majority of retirees stay in the communities in which they worked. Many continue to utilize their Extension visibility and mobilizing volunteer skills in for many community causes. Some events include Katrina relief efforts, church community projects and other causes.

Others serve as consultants, advisors and even lending a hand at the county fair. Others give their time as 4-H leaders, 4-H alumni, and the Extension Cord editorial board.

During the spring you will find others continuing to support and work at the annual Flower and Garden Show.

Every spring many touch base with each other at the retiree luncheon hosted by Dr. Lyles and the different sections. The date for the 2006 event is Friday, April 7 at 11:30 a.m. at the 4-H Center at Ferndale. Please mark your calendar!
