How to Give Division Home |
Legacy SocietyThe Legacy Society of the Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service honors individuals and couples for truly caring about and wanting to be a vital part of Cooperative Extension programs. Since 1905, Arkansans have been served by extension-related educational programs and services. For a century then, Cooperative Extension’s faculty and staff have helped to improve significantly the economic well-being and quality of life for you and the entire state. In return, you have become one of the tens of thousands of Arkansans who share gifts to support Cooperative Extension’s mission and goals. Private contributions benefit Extension’s 4-H youth development, agriculture-related demonstrations, Family and Consumer Science programs, Master Gardener projects, Extension Homemaker programs and other services ranging from community development and nutrition education to financial planning and water quality. And we share our heartfelt gratitude for your financial support once again. In order to provide additional recognition to very special contributors – those who will be making a gift at the time of their death and/or the passing of their spouse – Cooperative Extension Service invites you to become a "Charter Member" of our new Legacy Society. Please Become A Charter Member We invite you to become a Legacy Society Charter Member – a one-time opportunity that is available only until June 30, 2006. "Charter Member" recognition is bestowed when you make a deferred gift of $25,000 or more, and "Sustaining Charter Member" status is awarded if you make a deferred gift of under $25,000. In return, the Society provides you with special recognition and programming for remembering Extension in your estate plans, e.g., through your will, living trust, a gift of life insurance, a charitable gift annuity or other deferred giving plans. Society members are recognized more specifically in the following "Legacy Society Circles": It is important to note that when you increase the amount of your deferred gift over the years, your Circle membership will reflect your expanding generosity. In the same way, if you begin as a Sustaining Charter Member, you will become a regular Charter Member at the time your deferred gift commitments reach $25,000 or more.
Society Benefits As a Charter or Sustaining Member, you are invited to an annual Extension event for major donors. In addition, Extension staff members at the state, district and county levels invite you to special conferences, workshops, demonstrations, etc. Members are also recognized in Division of Agriculture and Cooperative Extension Service publications; on permanent, distinctive wall plaques; and through news releases and on the web as approved by each donor. You also will be presented with a Legacy Society Charter Member memento for display in your home or office. Plaques listing your name and deferred giving level will be prominently displayed at Cooperative Extension’s state headquarters in Little Rock. Your county Extension office (as well as the offices in additional counties in which you have major holdings) will also display your name. It may be important for you to know that Extension will respect your request for anonymity if you prefer, or we will tailor your recognition to meet you requests. Many Deferred Giving Avenues Exist Many of Cooperative Extension’s donors support 4-H through their county 4-H Foundations. Deferred gifts to these local foundations automatically make you a Legacy Society Charter Member. The same is true for deferred gift contributors to the statewide Arkansas 4-H Foundation and special programs like the Extension Homemakers Clubs and Master Gardeners. When you establish a deferred gift for Cooperative Extension’s direct benefit through any process, we honor and continually thank you as a Charter Member. Additional Information Cooperative Extension’s professional staff has developed more detailed information about the variety of deferred giving alternatives available to you. We can also give you an "estate planning planner," a publication that helps you document your financial assets and liabilities and recommends ways in which you can plan the distribution of your estate. To receive confidential and objective assistance from our professional staff, please contact the Office of Development in Little Rock or your local County Extension Agent. |
