Secretarial Resources - GroupWise Distribution Lists
GroupWise is the e-mail software used by Extension. For
your convenience, several distributions lists were created in the Novell
GroupWise system address book. A distribution list is a group of e-mails saved
under one name. To send an e-mail to everyone on a particular list, you only
need to place the name of the list in the To: field.
All the GroupWise system distribution lists start with "DL
– ", followed by the name of the list. For example, DL – All Employees, sends
e-mail to everyone in the organization. Use this list sparingly and only for
messages in which you are sure everyone really needs to know the information in
your message.
To browse through all the distribution lists,
- Open Address Book in GroupWise (top left button on the
toolbar)
- Select Novell GroupWise Address Book
- In the Look for: box, enter DL
- To find out the addresses in the list, double click on
the list (or highlight the list and select View and Details from the menu
bar)
- To send mail to a list, right click on it and select
Action and Send Mail (or select the list, then select Action and Send Mail
from the toolbar)
You don’t have to get into the Address Book to send mail if
you know the name of the list. Just start typing the list name in the To: field
of your message and GroupWise will fill in the rest. Don’t forget to start each
one with DL - .
