New Hire Onboarding program launches with new workshop. With a workshop held on October 8th, the first component of the redesigned New Hire Onboarding program has been tested. Attended by 51 new employees , the “Check-in and Tune-up for New Hires” workshop featured a “Big Picture” session led by Dr. Tony Windham, peer-to-peer “Tales and Tips For Success” panels, and afternoon breakout sessions. Participants and Little Rock State Office employees visited Info Expo exhibits hosted by Extension support units, professional organizations, Family and Consumer Sciences, and Community and Economic Development. To celebrate our new employees and National 4-H week, the Warehouse crew fired up the grill to cook hamburgers and hotdogs for all employees. Lunch was provided compliments of Dr. Tony Windham. Throughout the day, new employees were able to network with peers, get questions answered, and learn lots of information to help them in their jobs.

Feedback and evaluation data were highly positive. Please select the links for quantitative results (PDF) and written comments (PDF). The next workshop for new hires is scheduled for April 15, 2010. The next component of the New Hire Onboarding program to be launched will be an online New Employees Welcome Center. Questions? FY2009 AIMS Meets Year-End Success

Extension closed out the 2009 AIMS program year on October 5th. The AIMS Team would like to say a big "thank you" to the many reporters in the organization who documented another successful year. With over 1 million Direct Educational contacts and almost 670 thousand hours reported, it is no surprise that we were able to impart such impact on Arkansas across program areas.

As we begin FY 2010, the need to be accountable for our efforts is increasing and the need to pull “live” information is ever important. Please continue to strive towards monthly reporting of time and effort, as the data will be that much more accurate and can meet a number of stakeholder requests.

2009 Employee Training Needs Assessment Results. We asked you to tell us what you think, and boy did you ever! A state-wide training needs assessment was conducted with all Extension employees April 13-30, 2009 and 589 employees responded. The results were immediately shared with state faculty for training and development purposes. Administrators likewise used the data to review the 2009-2010 in-service training proposals. As a result of CES employee feedback, new in-service training classes will be offered for the first time this next year, and the training schedule and structure for some course offerings have also changed. The survey results included both quantitative and qualitative data, and three teams have been charged with developing new training systems to better support the entire Extension workforce. A planning and development process has been initiated addressing: 1) a comprehensive new employee onboarding system; 2) a core competency training system for Extension educators and staff; and 3) a competency-based training system for Extension supervisors. If you would like to provide additional input or have questions about work in any of these three development areas please contact:

New employee orientation gets an overhaul. A new program for helping new hires get onboard during their first year will feature an online New Employees Welcome Center and a refurbished one-day orientation at Little Rock State Office called "Check-in and Tune-up for New Hires". The program will also include formal mentoring and supervisor components. This program design has been heavily influenced by a May training needs assessment completed by over 500 employees who gave feedback on how to best orient new employees. The Executive administrative team, various department leaders, and the current Faculty Leadership Program team members have also provided input. Co-leads for this program's development are Sharon Reynolds, Ozark District Director, and Lisa Ferris, Program and Staff Development. Questions? Contact Lisa Ferris at lferris@uaex.eduu, 501-671-2340.

New online course site launches. Check out our new online course site powered by Moodle at http://courses.uaex.edu.
