Format: 1-day workshop at the Little Rock State Office
Intended audience: Required participation of Extension employees hired within the previous 12 months
Description: This workshop is part of a revised New Employee Onboarding program. This workshop addresses the big picture of Arkansas, Extension, and the employee's role and provides breakout sessions by position and focus areas. The participant will meet leaders and peers, get expert advice, share ideas and challenges, and get specific support questions answered.

Filling Your Extension Toolbox
Format: 4-day classroom workshop with online prerequisite modules at http://courses.uaex.edu
Intended audience: Extension educators with less than 2 years Extension experience
Description: This in-service workshop will cover basic-level competencies of Extension educators for the following topics: 1) Extension program planning, implementation and evaluation (using logic models), 2) teaching methods, 3) presentation skills, 4) goal setting and time management, 5) working with advisory groups, 6) facilitation skills, 7) conflict management, and 8) professional image. Participants will strengthen their: efficiency & effectiveness in the workplace, personal & professional creditability with clientele & colleagues, and ability to deliver effective Extension educational programs.

Impact Report Writing Lab for County Faculty
Format: 1-day classroom workshop and 1 hour Centra meeting option
Intended audience: County faculty
Description: Impact...You've Had It, Now Share It! Learn how to write impact statements and get "just-in-time" feedback. The morning session will include a brief overview and response to your specific questions. Then there will be time to write, followed by feedback and suggestions, resulting in quality impact reports which can be entered into AIMS for end of the year reporting. The computer lab setting will allow you to pull data from AIMS or other sources, draft your impacts, and enter Impact report(s)in AIMS with support from Karen Ballard, Rich Poling, and Nikki Cooper. Participants should bring supporting materials, be prepared to write and gt this marked off your "to-do" list! The Centra option: If you are too busy or if budget restraints won't allow you to get to the 4-H Center for the day-long class, we have opened up a Centra session just for you. This hour-long session will include a brief overview of impact writing and response to your specific questions regarding Impact Reports.

Power Up Your Teaching
Format: 1 day classroom workshop at the Little Rock State Office
Intended audience: Extension educators
Description: By increasing your understanding of adults as learners, the more effectively you can design educational experiences for them. Organizing content and selecting suitable tools for teaching are also key aspects of planning an effective educational experience for adult learners. Effective sequencing of learning helps learners build on existing and new concepts and the right teaching tool effectively links the learner and the educational content. Teaching tools include a variety of techniques and strategies help adult learners interpret, understand, and apply the content.

Presentation Skills for Extension Educators

Intended audience: Extension personnel and volunteers who deliver educational presentations to a variety of adult audiences
Description: Learn about the seven keys of effective educational presentations and how to achieve them. This 2-3 hour self-paced course addresses how to determine needs, design your presentation, use personal attributes to deliver your presentation with confidence, and evaluate your presentation. To receive course completion credit, employees should enroll first in the in-service training system.

Southern Extension History
Format: Online at http://courses.uaex.edu
Intended audience: Anyone who needs or wants to know more about Extension history
Description: Learn about the history of Extension in the South. Professor Randol Waters of the University of Tennessee is your host. This course has five modules, each featuring a narrated video, handouts, and questions to check your knowledge. A cumulative Course Exam is included. Videos are also available on CD-Rom for students with slow internet connections. To receive course completion credit, employees should enroll first in the in-service training system.

Using Needs Assessments to Identify Clientele and Program Priorities
Format: One-day workshop
Intended audience: Extension educators, program leaders/managers and administrators who want to design and conduct needs assessment/issue identification processes.
Description: Identifying and prioritizing needs is an essential process in determining what we should be doing as Extension educators. Needs assessments is the initial step in the Extension program development process. Assessing needs is also an important step for program managers and administrators in determining where resources need to be allocated and efforts expended. This in-service will address the role of needs assessment in decision-making, the basic steps in the needs assessment process, and several common methods used to collect needs assessment information. Participants in this in-service will increase their knowledge of what needs assessment is, the common steps used in the needs assessment process, who and what are appropriate information sources for the needs assessment process, and how to determine and use appropriate needs assessment methods.

Description: This mini-workshop and demonstration addresses principles of effective online course design and shows examples of effective courses. It is recommended as a prerequisite to the Moodle software training. It provides an overview of possible course design approaches and techniques that an instructor can consider in preparing course materials prior to building an online course in the Moodle platform.

Group Facilitation Skills
Format: 1-day classroom workshop
Intended audience: Extension personnel who work with groups in planning educational programs or organizational processes
Description: This class will cover group facilitation methods for use in a variety of situations. Possible uses of these methods include: working with advisory groups; conducting needs assessments with stakeholders to identify needs; evaluating progress and impact of programs; helping other groups with their planning and decision-making activities. This class will cover important facets of group dynamics, appropriate uses of various facilitation methods, the role of the facilitator and facilitator techniques. Participants in this training will increase their knowledge of group facilitation concepts and methods and increase their skills in using appropriate group facilitation methods.

On Target with AIMS
Format:
One on one, small group, phone, or Centra
Intended audience: Anyone who uses AIMS to report their time, effort, or uses AIMS to pull reports for data.
Description: Are you missing the mark with your AIMS reporting? Perhaps you should schedule an AIMS training for yourself and/or your fellow AIMS users. Training varies and can be tailored to the needs of the individual AIMS users. Instruction is broad and basic for new users, yet detailed and specific for experienced AIMS reporters. It can cover everything from how to create an Individual Plan of Work (IPOW) to how to pull Impact reports for an entire staff. This is a hands-on workshop in which participants build pieces of their course as we discuss the Moodle concepts.
