Information Technology Why do we have so many IDs and passwords? IDs (accounts) and passwords are used to keep our many sources of information safe. While we try to keep them to a minimum, the different IDs take you to different places. Here are the accounts we maintain in Extension: Network Account – This is primarily used at the Little Rock State Office [LRSO] to give you access to network printers and centralized folders that contain programs (Banner, telephone book) and storage (U: drive). GroupWise Account – This account gives you access to your e-mail and personal calendar. It allows you to schedule meetings with other GroupWise users and to query the availability of the meeting rooms. Note: At the LRSO, logging into your Network Account automatically gets you into GroupWise unless your desktop is shared with others or set up differently for other reasons. Intranet Account – This account gives you access to the programs we have written for you such as AIMS, Publication and Supplies Order System, Equipment Ordering, Visuals, In-Service Training, Civil Rights and 4-H Regional ORama. Those of you who use our dial up service to check your e-mail or browse the web also use your Intranet account to log in. Banner Account – This account gives you access to Banner, our financial management and human resource database. If you have a Banner account, you can enter and/or approve requisitions and time sheets, enter or change employee information for your department, query budgets and much more, depending upon your security level. Self Service - This account, which is the same as the Banner Account (but, access to Banner/WebForms may not be allowed depending on the security settings), is set up for each employee to allow you to access your personal Banner information from anywhere in the world with Internet access. Self Service gives you information on your pay stub, leave, address and benefit information. You can also enter and/or approve time sheets and approve requisitions, depending upon your security level. During the summer of 2003, IT set up a single login service that would allow you to log in once every day and get access to your Network (if at LRSO), GroupWise and Intranet applications without having to enter additional IDs and passwords. If you are interested in getting this set up for your desktop, please contact Susan James in the IT department, sjames@uaex.edu or 501-671-2192. |
