Banner Minutes
September 19, 2008

1. Outstanding action items from last meeting.
ACTION ITEM – Financial services will look at their schedule to determine the best time for a payroll DR test. The test will take approximately 8 hours to perform and to rebuild the standby afterward. Once the auxiliary server is loaded with the remaining software and data, the test will be scheduled.

(Running Banner from the LRSO on the standby database at UAFS has been tested and verified. The second phase test needs to run payroll from the auxiliary server that will be housed at UAFS and will hold Webforms, Self Service, Evisions and other required software. The servers currently running Webforms and Self Service at the LRSO need to be upgraded to Oracle 10g before we copy them to the auxiliary server. Because the upgrade could significantly impact the new portal, SunGard has strongly recommended that we do not perform this upgrade until well after we go live with the portal and have had time to manage it for a period of months. SunGard recommended a delay on the upgrade until sometime after the first of the year.)

ACTION ITEM – Bruce H. will tell Nina when folders for former employees can be deleted from the IBMs.

ACTION ITEM – Bruce K. will research what it takes to change Jim Lipsey’s signature on purchase orders to Bruce H.’s signature. Bruce H. will let IT know when he wants the change to take effect. Bruce H. indicated that he was ready for the change to be made. Burl will get Susan James a blank sheet of paper on which he has signed his name so that she may scan it for the PO signature.

2. Projects
  Disaster Recovery – See [above]

Accounts Receivable – Nina pulled the minutes regarding the A/R testing done by Sheryl Baker. The minutes indicated that Sheryl’s testing had been successful and that the next step was to create the Evisions invoice. Mark volunteered to create the invoice. Bruce K. will assist.

Argos – Bruce has created data blocks for the “Super 9.” He created reports that would step them through the discovery process when someone does not show up in the Division Directory. Mark automated the process so that it would take them from one step to the next. Bruce is also working on authenticating uses through Active Directory to improve access through the portal, Spot.

Banner budget process for departmental budget preparation – This will be investigated after A/R.

Direct Deposit form in Self Service – This will be investigated after A/R.

3. Schedule for new Edison
The afternoon of 9/30 was selected for the migration date. The plan is to move only the production instances of Banner to the new server and then to change the IP numbers on that server and the old Edison so that ACES and LumSpot continue to be accessed through the same IP number as they are now.
ACTION ITEM – Nina will alert Chris and Ash that the IP number for LumTest will change. If the development portal configuration is not changed accordingly, SpotDev will be inaccessible.

4. Luminis Update
The Spot “go live” was delayed until October 6 by administration to allow faculty to complete their federal year end reporting in AIMS without distraction.

5. Oracle 10G and Banner 8 upgrade
No date has been set yet to complete the upgrades

6. Status of New IBM
All Banner code trees (for production, test and Luminis) have been FTP'ed to the new IBM, as have all of the O/S utilities that we've installed (such as gzip). Still waiting to be installed are the C and COBOL compilers and the Oracle database software. After those are installed, we can move our ACES, NHRD, and LUMSPOT databases to the new IBM (the PREP, IPEDS, SPOT, and LUMTEST databases will stay on the old IBM, which we will keep for testing purposes).

7. Other Business
ePrint requires a software and hardware upgrade. Bruce is working with the vendor to confirm specifications.
