Information Technology Archiving E-mail What is Archiving? The new e-mail guidelines establish an 18-month life span for your e-mail. This means that each week any e-mail reaching its 18-month birthday will be deleted. What do you do if you have old e-mail that you want to keep? How do you save it from being deleted? The answer is to archive the e-mail. Archiving is a term meaning to file or collect documents. In our context, archiving means to file your e-mails in another location other than the GroupWise server The new guidelines posted at http://www.uaex.edu/depts/InfoTech/helpfulhints/email_retention.aspprovide instructions on how to set up your archive. Then, when you need to look up an old e-mail, you only have to select File from the menu toolbar and then select Open Archive. To go back to your current e-mails, you select File again and select Archive to uncheck it. Get your archive set up if you want to keep those important e-mails. |
