UALR Affiliate Membership

Cooperative Extension Service provides (free of cost to employees) an affiliate membership with the University of Arkansas at Little Rock that includes:

  • Access to the Ottenheimer Library and the Donaghey Student Center
  • 10% discount at the bookstore (excludes software, calculators, or sundries)

Note: You must get an ID card from the Donaghey Student Center.

Travel Insurance

As a member of the University of Arkansas staff, you are insured for accidental death and dismemberment while traveling on official duty. The policy provides $50,000 accidental death insurance. Coverage is automatic and is provided to you free of cost. In order to insure that payment will be made to the desired beneficiary, you must complete and return form EHIRE -206 , Certificate of Liability Insurance and Designation of Beneficiary (MSWord).

Arkansas Agricultural Extension Workers' Protective Association

Extension employees have the option of joining the Arkansas Agricultural Extension Workers’ Protective Association, which provides a death benefit of $2,500 to be paid to the beneficiary of a deceased member immediately upon verification of death. The membership fee is $25. For additional information, contact the Director of Organizational, Staff, and Leadership Development.

Cooperative Extension Service Federal Credit Union

You have the option of joining the Credit Union by depositing at least $5 and paying the membership fee of $1. Interest rates are set by the Board of Directors and are changed periodically according to conditions in the loan market. For additional information, contact the Credit Union Manager.

Workers Compensation

Compensation is provided to Extension employees free of cost for medical care, disability, and rehabilitation as a result of injuries incurred while on duty status or as a result of an occupational disease. If you are injured while on duty status, notify your supervisor and the Payroll Manager immediately. If you require medical attention, the doctor and/or hospital should be informed that payment will be handled by Workers’ Compensation. All workers compensation injuries must be treated by preferred providers. Systemedic / USABLE is our preferred provider organization. A listing of the preferred providers is located in each Extension office. Do not file a claim with QualChoice.

Social Security

Employees on University of Arkansas appointment are required to make contributions to the Social Security program. Extension matches these contributions.

Direct Deposit of payroll Check

Employees may choose to have their payroll checks directly deposited into their checking and/or savings accounts. Enclosed is a card for you to complete. You must attach a voided check to the card. There are occasional problems with mail delivery so, this is the only way to guarantee that you will have your payroll check deposited in your bank on the regularly assigned pay date. Direct Deposit requires one payroll cycle for pre-note. A pink check stub indicates a real check that must be deposited or cashed. A green check stub indicates that the deposit has been made to your bank account. We strongly encourage use of the direct deposit option.

Arkansas Employees Assistance Program

The program provides counseling, information and management consultation for employees and their families who experience some form of personal distress free of charge. For appointments call 501-686-2588 or 1-800-542-6021. Their website address is www.uams.edu/eap.
