University of Arkansas Retirement Plans

To provide retirement benefits for you, the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service offers participation in one of the following retirement plans: the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP), or Arkansas Public Employees Retirement System (APERS).  You must select one of these plans within 31 days of your date of hire.

A contribution for benefits eligible employees will be made by the U of A Cooperative Extension Service. Even if you do not make a personal contribution to your retirement plan, you must tell us where to invest your Extension contribution by completing the following forms:

Optional Retirement Plans

All non-benefits eligible employees (part-time and temporary) are eligible to participate in an unmatched 403(b) on a voluntary basis. You will not receive any employer contributions to your retirement plan but you can make voluntary unmatched contributions. You may select TIAA-CREF and/or Fidelity Investments for your retirement plan options. Please complete the ORP forms.

Within the IRS limits, you may enroll, end, increase, decrease or suspend your contributions at any time. Contact the Human Resources Department for additional information or assistance.
