We are part of the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service’s statewide network and the University of Arkansas System’s Division of Agriculture.  Our mission is to provide research-based information through non-formal education to help all Arkansans improve their economic well-being and the quality of their lives.  Whether it is agriculture, 4-H, health and living, or community development, the Columbia County Extension Office is at your service!

Ouachita Area Master Gardener Training

Each year Calhoun, Columbia, Dallas, Ouachita and Union County Ag Agents work together to conduct the Ouachita Area Master Gardener Training.   Classes are conducted in February and March.

The 2015 4-H Master Gardening Contest was held in July.  The winners are:

4-H Changes Lives

4-H is the youth development program conducted by the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture, Cooperative Extension Service.  4-H members range from 5-19 years and can select from 82 different project areas.  The 4-H mission is to provide opportunities for youth to acquire knowledge, develop skills, form attitudes and practice behavior that will enable them to become self-motivated, productive and contributing members of society.

Family and Consumer Sciences

The Columbia County Family and Consumer Sciences program  offers research -based information through non formal education to help improve and transform the lives of the county residents. The topics include:

  1. Health
  2. Family Life
  3. Family Resource Management
  4. Food and Nutrition

with special emphasis on the Supplemental Nutrition Program (SNAP).

We are committed to deliver programs in these areas to improve your families economic well being and the quality of their lives.
