Job Description: Provide education and service to Arkansas fish producers ($163 million industry with 34,192 acres of catfish and 27,820 acres of baitfish).  Assist County Extension Agents and the public with fish production and farm pond questions, provide in-service training, prepare educational materials, organize workshops and meetings, and provide direct assistance to producers. My research program focuses on improved methods for baitfish (golden shiner, goldfish and fathead minnow) production. Three main areas of interest are hatchery management, management of problematic blue-green algae blooms, and effluents from baitfish farms. A career in Extension and applied research is rewarding because you get to help people solve real problems. It also provides a variety of experiences that keeps life interesting.
