Heidi Sosick is an oceanographer with the Woods Hole
Oceanographic Institute. Oceanographers look at how ocean ecosystems function, and how
humankind's influence may have an effect on the seas.
Action Tips:
If you're interested in oceanography, here are a few things you can do now to explore
this carreer:
- Visit aquariums and science museums near you. Check to see if they have a junior
oceanographer program which offers boat trips for students.
- Take Biology, Chemistry and Geology is school.
- If there is a college near you, check to see if there is an Oceanography Department. Ask
them if you can tour their labs or be a summer intern.
- Join the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institutions and read their magazine called "Oceanus".
