Job Description: Assistant Project Biologist at Little Goose Dam (Snake River, near Dayton, WA). I help oversee collection, sampling and loading of juvenile salmonids into truck and/or barges for transport below Bonneville Dam (near Troutdale, OR). I also inspect, operate and maintain adult and juvenile fishways (ladder and collection system), write annual and weekly reports, give tours to visitors, review research proposals and coordinate local research projects. When my superior is absent (which is a frequent occurrence), I supervise 8 – 10 employees. Shift and weekend work frequently necessary as facility operates 24 hours/day from 4/1 to 11/1. I also respond to inquiries from NMFS, state agencies, and higher authority about powerhouse operations and other project activities.
