Job description:

Director of NSU Aquaculture Research Center. Our research center is located near Lena, Louisiana, about 35 miles south of NSU's main campus in Natchitoches, Louisiana. My job is to develop the Aquaculture Research Center, secure extramural funding for research, and to develop collaborative relationships with others universities and private culturists.

Education:

B.S. in Microbiology from University of Southwestern Louisiana
(Now University of Louisiana Lafayette) 1990, M.S. in Range, Wildlife, and
Fisheries from Texas Tech University 1992, Ph.D. in Wildlife and Fisheries
(Aquaculture) from Louisiana State University 1996.

Salary: $42,000

Years in the profession: Six years as a graduate student. Four years as a post-doctoral professional.

Our main research thrust is alternative aquaculture. We have a partially completed Partitioned Aquaculture System (1/2-acre), 12 research ponds (1/4-acre each), and a 24-acre reservoir. We also have a wet laboratory
building with several recirculating systems. Our main research project is development of culture methods for hybrid sunfish.
